Sustainability Consultant – Contract

This is a 9-month parental leave coverage position with the possibility of extension.

We’re currently seeking an eager, passionate Sustainability Consultant to support our team during a parental leave. This position will report to the Director of Sustainability and Chief Strategy Officer. Our headquarters are in Halifax but this role can be remote within Canada. You’ll be mainly focused on helping the businesses in R&G’s portfolio to improve their sustainability performance and communicate their impact.

Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, or a diploma or certificate in Sustainability, ESG, or CSR
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a sustainability or ESG role
  • Understanding of sustainability principles, best practices and strategy
  • Experience in carbon accounting and environmental audits, and a working knowledge of carbon accounting standards (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, Science Based Targets) is required
  • Knowledge and experience in ESG reporting and familiarity with international reporting standards is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in stakeholder relations is an asset
  • Previous experience in a consulting role is an asset

You are:

  • A strong self-starter and team player, able to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary experts and a range of clients
  • An excellent and persuasive communicator with strong customer service skills
  • A skilled researcher, you are passionate about solving problems and have an insatiable appetite for learning
  • Have the ability to manage projects and timelines independently
  • Your attention to detail and ability to self-manage and juggle priorities while working autonomously in remote situations is an absolute must

Main responsibilities include:

  • Along with the Chief Strategy Officer and Director of Sustainability, support clients with their sustainability needs from project launch through to completion of final deliverables, including acting as R&G’s front-end representative with clients.
  • Oversee project delivery, including managing timelines, coordinating execution on deliverables, conducting research and analysis, and facilitating client meetings and workshops.
  • Act in an advisory capacity on R&G’s marketing, communications and design projects to ensure all of R&G’s deliverables are aligned with sustainability best practices. 
  • Ensure R&G’s compliance with our own sustainability certifications and commitments, such as BCorp.
  • Typical projects can include GHG audits, ESG/sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy development, and program/initiative development.
  • There may also be opportunity to gain some management experience and take on a leadership role with an intern over the summer.
  • Additional duties may be required on occasion.
