Imagining a Solar PV weather forecast with SolarDataNS
A fun dashboard to show off the amount of sunshine over Nova Scotia—and how much you’ll save.
Their Challenge
The Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) wanted a digital tool to empower Nova Scotians with real-time information about solar energy. They also wanted to contribute to their broader Community Solar Database initiative, which collects data on solar electricity generation from solar arrays across Nova Scotia, and makes this data available for research and public education.
Our Solution
Working closely with the NSCC team, we developed a website that delivers real-time estimates of solar electricity production and dollar value of electricity per average home in Nova Scotia. An interactive map was created to communicate a snapshot of solar installations across the province along with robust data resources to give users the information they need to participate in the Nova Scotia’s solar movement.
